BARBARA CAROL (PORTER) SHUPE-Barbara C. Shupe, 77 died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Christiansburg, VA. She was born on April 25, 1945 in Wyoming County, WV. She was the daughter of Charles and Tessie Porter. She was raised with her 10 siblings in Cub Creek, WV. Barbara moved to Washington, DC at the age of 17 where she met Leroy Thomas Shupe. They married and had 4 children. Her husband passed away in 1972. Barbara raised 4 children in Hyattsville, MD on her own, always putting their needs before her own, constantly running each one to sports and other activities. She enjoyed playing tennis and taking her children to the community pool in the summertime. In 1982 Barbara met Richard (Rich) L. Leizear, a loving relationship of 40 years, and eventually moved to Florida where they resided for the past 30+ years working as a casino host and enjoyed fishing with Rich on Lake
Okeechobee. Recently, the family moved Rich and Barbara to the Christiansburg, VA area to assist with her care due to deteriorating health conditions.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Leroy Thomas Shupe; 5 brothers, Edward Lee, Charles Porter, Jr., Cleve Porter, Edgar Porter, Joe Porter and 2 sisters, Ella Mae Lester and Jaunita Trent.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Richard L. Liezear, are her 4 children, Thomas Shupe (Kathryn), David Shupe, Charles Shupe and Marlana Light (Bryan); 3 brothers, Douglas Porter, Stevie Porter (Robin) and Tim Porter; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Carillion Hospice and their nurses, Becky, Amy, Joel and Rebecca for the loving care they showed to our loved one.
