Aaron Cody Balarzs

d. February 10, 2022

Aaron ‘Cody’ Balarzs, 41, of Blacksburg, VA, departed this life on Thursday morning, February 10, 2022 at NRVMC. Cody fought a courageous and brave battle with cancer, believing in his heart he would fully beat it. In reality, he really did beat it - he never let it define him; he fought hard with Robyn, Katy, and Duck.
He enjoyed shopping trips, getting new pairs of light blue, blue jeans, and his favorite white shirts. His favorite restaurant to eat was at Mission BBQ; Robyn would sneak and grab his banana pudding when he wasn’t looking and laughed about it. Many, many precious memories were made from 2000-2022. Cody was a graduate of NHS, he was one of the good ole boys, going to dances, swimming at the boone in Narrows, enjoying football games, and good times with his Class of 2000.
Cody was a fun and loving dad, former husband and high school sweetheart, best friend, cousin, nephew – he never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back. Cody was born on January 6, 1981, in Huntsville, Alabama, a son of the late Robin René Balarzs who we all know was waiting at the gates of heaven to hold her baby boy again. He was preceded in death by his grandparents that adopted him, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest (Ruby) Balarzs; his former father-in-law, Tracey Clifton. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his little girl, Robyn Rowena Jennelle (Balarzs); former wife and high school sweetheart, Katy Jennelle; best friend, Duck Jennelle (a friendship formed by 2 dads coming together for Robyn); former sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Paul Lang; nieces, Scarlett Clifton, Tracy Lang; nephew, Ronald Lang. He also leaves behind special family members Donna Bell (Nanna), Eddie Steele, June Barbar, all of AZ, Rodger Metcalf of CA, Mary Ellen Balarzs of VA; many other loving, caring, family members; as well as special friends, (the good ole boys) John Kertesz, Mama Kertesz, Jim Hazelwood, Adam Reynolds, JD Van Schoych, Penny Bell Brown, and #1 girl Leetha Brown. The family of Cody would like to thank Carilion Hospice, Carilion Surgical Care Unit nurses, NRVCS, NRCA of Christiansbug, Karen Reed, the staff at Wingate by Wyndham, NHS, and Amanda Moser.
There will be a visitation from 1-2 p.m. and a Celebration of Life from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Narrows High School, with Chaplin Robyn Angle officiating. Narrows Flower Shop is handling the floral arrangements.
