Allen H. DeSchon, 76, formerly of Christiansburg, Virginia, died Monday, December 12, 2005 at Westport Health Care Center in Richmond, Virginia.
Allen was born July 19, 1929 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Lena M. DeSchon. He was a mortician having proudly helped families in Winchester, Troutville, Roanoke, Fredericksburg, and the New River Valley. He retired in 2004 from Horne Funeral Service in Christiansburg, where he worked for 16 years, completing a career of 50 years as a licensed funeral director. Allen attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverley Preas DeSchon, who died July 7, 2003, a sister, Betty D. Cochran, and two brothers, Louis March and Harvey L. DeSchon .
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey A. DeSchon of Glen Allen; a sister, Iris D. Sibert of Winchester; two brothers William H. DeSchon of Winchester and Raoul H. DeSchon of Texas; and a grandson. The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14th, and at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15th. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, your local fire/rescue squad or local humane society.
