Bertha Allene Graham, 86, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, October 29, 2011.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Collins and Henry Lee Graham, and her brothers, Robert Lee Graham, Fred Arnold Graham and Harry Raymond Graham.
Surviving are her sisters-in-law, Ruby Creasy Graham of Christiansburg and Nancy Engle Graham of Roanoke, Va., and her nieces and nephews, Annette Graham Burkett (Tyler) of Mechanicsville, Va., Krin Graham Turpin (Doug) of Salem, Va., Robert (Robbie) Lee Graham (Jacquelyn) of Dublin, Va., and Richard N. Graham (Teresa Gallagher) of Christiansburg. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Allene was a retired Administrative Assistant with Radford Army Ammunition Plant with over 40 years of service. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was known for her love of gardening, bowling, playing bridge, and sitting on her front porch alongside her red geraniums, visiting with family and friends.
Allene was a wonderful and caring person who was loved by many friends, neighbors and family. She will be especially missed by her two nieces and two nephews.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Payne and to Allene’s special friends, Fonnie Cupp, Martha Ballard, Bill Gibbs, and cousins, Tim Collins and Caswell Graham (Zelma).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday. Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Horne Funeral Service Chapel conducted by Rev. Michael D. Copeland with interment in Sunset Cemetery.
