Alma Nixon

April 18, 1910 — December 8, 2004

NIXON, ALMA DALTON, age 94, of Christiansburg, VA went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 8, 2004.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clonia Dalton; her husband, George Grover Nixon, Sr.; four sisters, and four brothers. Surviving are three sons and their wives, George Grover and Opal Nixon, Henry W. and Doris Nixon, of Christiansburg; and Ray Kenneth and Phyllis Nixon, of Dixon, CA; a sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and James Hall of Nitro, WV; grandchildren, Leah, Joe, Nicky Nixon, California, and Keith Nixon, Washington; Sandra and Mike Ganoe, Radford; Lisa and Mal Lafoon, Midlothian, VA; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, Jasen, Allison, Ryan, Zackary, Jonathan, Dalton, Callie, Jeremiah, Caleb, Andrew and Micah. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Alma retired from Imperial Reading after 27 years of service. The family would like to thank the staff at the Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carilion Hospice, and Carilion New River Valley Medical Center for the care and concern given Alma during her illness.

Funeral services will be held at Horne Funeral Home on Sunday, December 12, at 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday, December 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. William Hungate and Rev. Don Peters. Flowers will be appreciated or donations to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 176; Christiansburg, VA 24068.
