Anna Tribble

July 21, 1916 — April 28, 2007

Tribble, Anna Laura Henderson, 90, of the Roanoke Valley went home to be with Jesus. She has been a lifetime member of the Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church and was the first woman to graduate in Agricultural Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1938. Anna Laura and her sister Ruby were raised by their mother, “Miss Maude”, on the Henderson farm in the Roanoke Valley outside of Blacksburg.

Over the years, she has shared many stories and experiences from growing up in that era. Anna Laura worked with 4H Clubs in Pulaski County before relocating to Halifax County to teach, where she met her husband, Randolph. After her travels as an Air Force wife, she and her family returned to the Henderson farm. She has been active in her community with Home Demonstration Clubs, her church, and many local activities. Anna Laura was known for her sewing, knitting, quilting, and church work. Anna Laura lived a life of faith and kindness. We will miss you, Anna Laura. She met a true friend and angel, Debbie Daugherty, in her final days, for which all of us are very grateful.

Mrs. Tribble was preceded by her parents, Jonas Kyle Henderson and Maude Anna (Dickerson) Henderson. She is survived by her sister, Ruby Lee Peery, of Rural Retreat, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Louis Tribble and Valerie Sellers, of Blacksburg; daughters and son-in-law, Phyllis Kyle Harmon, of Roanoke, and Beryl Catherine and Barrie G. Ware, of Blacksburg; granddaughters, Paige Lauren Harmon, of Shelby, NC, and JoAnna Kyle Harmon, of Roanoke.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Service. A graveside will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Carilion Hospice Services New River Valley, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, VA 24141.
