Armand Carney

Carney, Armand J. of Floyd County, Virginia died peacefully at home on Monday, March 17, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pam Mathis Carney; his daughters and sons-in-law: Gale and Michael Bonanno of Owings, Maryland, Shannon and Mark David of Durham, North Carolina; two very special grandchildren, Ian and Emma Bonanno.

For many years Armand served as Factory Representative for Pacemaker Yacht Corporation in Lower Bank, New Jersey. He traveled and sportfished from Maine to Mexico and in the Bahama Islands. Many marlin and tuna tournaments were won with Armand as captain of the yacht “Pacemaker”.
An extremely talented artist, Armand crafted decorative duck decoys, shorebirds, and songbirds. He exhibited his work in many places, most notably the renowned Easton Maryland Waterfowl Festival where his art was featured in the Gold Room for over 25 years. His carving and painting techniques have been featured in many articles and books.

A celebration of the life of Armand J. Carney will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008 in Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church, High Street, Christiansburg, Virginia. There will be no visitation prior to the service. The family invites you to join them in the Church Social Hall immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to Beulah House, 4704 Caddell Lane, Dublin, Virginia, 24084. Armand strongly believed in the Beulah House mission of “Competent, Compassionate Care” for the terminally ill in a homelike hospice setting.
