Arthur Crawford

Crawford, Jr., Arthur Lee, 74, of Pilot, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009. He was born on June 4, 1935 to the late Arthur Lee and Courean Harrah Crawford, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wells Crawford, and grandson, Kevin Miller.

Art retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad after 29 years of service as a conductor. He was the former owner of Art’s Gun Shop in Christiansburg. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and, was also a member of Auburn Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Connie Miller and husband Carl of Roanoke, VA; son Michael Crawford of Roanoke, VA; step daughter, Tanya Harman and husband George of Floyd, VA; step son, Jeff Chandler and wife Deanna of Floyd, VA; grandchildren, Jenna Miller, Makayla Chandler, and, Cory Ratcliffe and wife Samantha; great grandchild, Ty Ratcliffe; brothers, Pete Crawford and wife Betty Lou of Radford, VA, Gary Crawford and wife Betty of Salem, VA, Tom Crawford and wife Chris of Atlanta, GA; sister Candy Brogden and husband Jim of Roanoke, VA; special caregiver, Geneva Huff, special neighbor Ricky Thompson; and many other family and friends.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Auburn Baptist Church. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Pastor Shake Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home.
