SUMNER, AVA ELLEN, age 97, of Christiansburg passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas and Bertha Sumner Nixon; her husband, Fiege Tate Sumner, three brothers, Rex, George and Junior Nixon and sister-in-law, Ruth Nixon.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry & Pat Nixon of Salem, Eugene (Gene) & Evelyn Nixon of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law, Carlene Nixon of Salem, Irene Nixon of Christiansburg; special friends, Becky Gutshall and June Earles, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 205 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Bonn officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The Sumner Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, (382-2612).
