Avril Elaine Shrum, of Pilot, left this earth for the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, November 10, 2014.
Elaine graduated from Aliquippa High School in Aliquippa, PA, specializing in music. She sang and served as organist and pianist in her local churches in Pennsylvania. She became an accomplished artist in oils, winning several juried shows in the Ellwood City, PA, area. She was active as a Girl Scout leader, as a member of the Eastern Star, and as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A feisty, wise and spiritual guiding light for all who knew her, she resided in Pilot, Virginia, near her daughter, for more than two decades.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Shrum; sisters, Charlotte and Evelyn; and brother, Charles Alexander. She is survived by her daughter, Judith L. Shrum; and dear friend, John Denton.
Elaine will be laid to rest alongside her husband on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, PA. A Memorial Celebration will be held at a later date.
