Ballard Odell Grubb, 65 of Pilot, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013.
He was born to the late Jackson Odell and Esther Price Grubb. He is survived by children, James Grubb, Melissa Webb and husband Keith, and Joseph Grubb; grandtwins, Andrew and Nathan; and granddaughter, Nicole Webb; sisters, Carolyn Price and husband Gene, Lorraine Plunkett Baker and husband Kyle; nieces, nephews; as well as many other friends and family.
Ballard was a graduate of Virginia Tech and retired as an Industrial Arts teacher at Shawsville Middle and High Schools. Since retiring he was a valued handyman to many in the area and was a former member of the Pilot Ruritan Club. Ballard enjoyed working, old cars and being outdoors, but he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren most of all. He enjoyed bluegrass and old time music as well.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
