Barbara (Bobbie) Lester Kenley

Barbara Lester Kenley (Bobbie) 79, left her earthly home in Radford on July 4, 2021 and entered into her heavenly home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and joined a celebration with those gone on before her.
Barbara was born in Riner on April 15, 1942 to James and Zell Lester. She grew up with 9 siblings and was preceded in death by both her parents and brothers Jimmy Lester, Curtis Lester, Benny Lester; sisters Mildred Memitt, Audrey Underwood and Ann Morgan.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Betty Lester, sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Claude Miles Jr., Iris and Dean Sowers, Joyce and Lloyd Thompson, her sister-in-law, Brenda Lutz, Betty Bobbitt and Joan Kenley.
Barbara leaves behind her loving, devotional care giver of almost 8 years Kenneth Kenley and her cherished soulmate of almost 60 years. The two were married and had one son and daughter-in-law Mark and Lisa Kenley, daughter and son-in-law Kim and Mark Link.
Barbara (Nana) thought the world of her grandchildren, Jeremy and Kristen Kenley, Whitney and Jarrod Thomas, Jordan Link, Caleb and Lauren Link. Also her great grandson, Kenley Thomas who could light up her day with so much laughter and fun.
Barbara was a member of Auburn Baptist Church, where she showed her love and care for others preparing meals. Barbara’s faith in Christ was strong. Her passion to learn more about her Savior, involved reading her bible every morning. You could find her reading her favorite magazine “My Israel My Glory”, and if she came across an article that peaked her interest, you could bet she was going to read it to you. Barbara loved summertime and was a hard working women that found simple pleasures in growing a big garden, canning and grooming her yard. She loved riding around on the farm with the love of her life. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was actively attending every service at Auburn Baptist Church until the dreaded diseases, Dementia and Parkinson’s invaded her body and she could not attend.
Barbara will be greatly missed by everyone that loved her.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Auburn Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christians Missions your local church supports. The family will receive friend from 10-11:00 am Thursday prior to the service. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.
