Barry Oscar Collins, a beloved figure in the hearts of many, was born on August 28, 1956, in Riner,. He spent his life as a devoted husband, father, and faithful friend, and he left this world on January 9, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by fond memories and the love of family.
As an avid deer hunter, Barry embraced the great outdoors, where he found peace and joy among the trees and trails he cherished so much. He dedicated 41 years of his life to Federal Mogul, where his diligent work and commitment earned him the respect of his colleagues and friends alike. A good Christian man, Barry’s faith was central to his life, guiding him in every action and thought. He was a cherished member of Lighthouse Family Ministries, where he found a supportive community and profound friendships.
Barry's family was the cornerstone of his existence. He is survived by his loving daughters, Michelle Collins and Courtney Rowland, who carry forward his legacy with strength and compassion. His grandsons, Cameron Vitaliano and Chase Rowland, will remember Gramps as a caring and generous man, who instilled in them the values of hard work and love for the outdoors. He is also survived by his brothers, George Collins and Kenny Collins, and his sister, Ellen Kieth, who together hold dear the cherished memories of their time with him.
Barry's extended family includes several nieces and nephews and his uncle Junior Gillenwater, who were all touched by his warmth and generosity. He was a friend to many, leaving a lasting impression on his special friends Colton, Wes, Ricky, Jamie, Johnny, and Dustin.
He is reunited in spirit with his beloved wife, Deborah Collins, who predeceased him, along with their son Todd Collins. Barry also joins his parents, Oscar and Lorene Collins, his brother Bruce Collins, and his grandparents Dewey and Livie Bishop, and Jeanette Gillenwater. The bonds of love and memory continue to weave through the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation services will be held on January 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Horne Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Christiansburg, VA. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place on January 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Lighthouse Family Ministries in Riner, VA. with Buford Linkous officiating
