MOFFITT, BEATRICE ?Bea? Marie Woods King, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005. She was born March 22, 1930 in Christiansburg, VA, the daughter of the late Sidney and Verna Cupp Woods and Step-Mother, Lena Church Woods.

She is survived by her husband Myron Moffitt; the father of her children, Charles Robert King, Sr.; her children, Charles ?Chuck? Robert King, Jr. of Christiansburg; Brenda King Baker, of Roanoke; Joseph Sidney King of Christiansburg; and Donald Wayne King and wife, Alicia of Christiansburg, Lisa R. Oakes & husband, Dale; grandchildren, Erin Marie Baker, Adam Dee Baker, Olivia Elizabeth Baker of Roanoke, Matthew Alvin King of Christiansburg; Noel Moysan, Corina Chestnut, Sidney Elizabeth King, and Allie Marie King of Christiansburg, Cassie L. Oakes; sister and brother-in-law, Iris and James Simpkins, of Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, James & Dixie Woods of Salem; step-sister and her husband, Linda & Bob Neale of Richmond; uncles and their wives, Roy & Audrey Woods and John & Francis Cupp.

Bea will be remembered by many in the community as a leader in Nursing. She completed Nurses Training in 1950 and began her career at Saint Albans Hospital. Her career included working in North Carolina, Mississippi, Roanoke and Christiansburg, VA. She retired from the Montgomery County School System in 1998. She was a leader in the early days of the Christiansburg Life Saving Crew and its efforts. She inspired many people to enter the profession of nursing. The number of lives and careers she touched are to numerous to mention. She will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15th at Sunset Cemetery with Mr. Porter Riner and Mr. Dale Simpkins officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests the memorial contributions be made to The Memorial Scholarship Fund for Nursing Students in memory of Bea King, c/o Dan Brann, 1795 Cambria Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073. The Moffitt Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg.
