Belle White

November 18, 1904 — May 5, 2007

WHITE, BELLE HUMPHREY, age 102, of Christiansburg passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Kroontje Health Care Center.

A lifetime member of the 4 H Club, and a 4 H Leader for more than fifty-two years, she loved gardening, flowers and reading. She loved traveling by train and was a charter member of the Railroad Historical Society, Roanoke Chapter she and her husband were members of the Roanoke Banjo and Fiddle Club for many years. An avid sports fan she loved VA Tech sports as well as all types of other sports.

Born in Wythe county the daughter of the late Chester M and Janie Wilson Humphrey she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester J. White, Sr. and nine bothers and sisters.

She is survived by daughter, Lucille White Dobbins; sons and daughters-in-law, Lester J. White, Jr. and wife, Rosetta, all of Christiansburg, VA., Jim McNabb and wife, Linda, Marietta, GA.; grandchildren, Mark C. Dobbins and wife, Laura, Kathy Dobbins Neff and husband, Jack, Patricia White Huff and husband, Jim, Bruce E. White and wife, Rachel, Clay E. White; great grandchildren, Sam Dobbins and wife, Hannah, Amanda Goins and husband, Brandon, Morgan Goins, Ben Huff, Jonathan Huff, Brandon White, Bethany White, Joshua White and Tonya McNabb; a brother, Woodrow Humphrey, Max Meadows, VA, a brother-in-law, Charles Fisher, Roanoke, numerous nieces and nephews. She also helped raise numerous children in her lifetime, including the Pedigo Family, Barbara Dillon, Tommy Pedigo and Norman Pedigo.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at the Kroontje Health Care Center, especially "THE COVE" for the loving care and attention given to her over the last years. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Galena Presbyterian Church, c/o Brenda Hric, 2230 Fort Chiswell Road, Max Meadows, 24360 or to the 4-H Educational Conference Center, Smith Mountain Lake, Wirtz, VA 24184.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 Tuesday evening at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, VA. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, in the Horne Funeral Chapel with Pastor Monroe Hedrick officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
