Bertie Collins

Bertie Mae Sadler Collins, 76, of Christiansburg, left us on April 14, 2012. Bertie's family is comforted by knowing that she is no longer in any pain and is now with her husband of 54 years, Lawrence Collins, her parents, Callie and Joe Sadler, sisters, Louise, Ilene, Anna Lee, Hazel, Becky, nephew, Chris Martin and daughter-in-law Amy Collins.

She will be deeply missed by her children Sandra Stark and fiance Gary, Yvonne Bryan, Mark Collins, and Anthony Collins & wife Janice.

Granny shared many special times with her grandchildren, Gary Wayne Stark & wife Debra, Angelina Bryan, Michelle Stark, Jessica Aydlette & husband Josh, Johnathan Collins & wife Lauren, Anthony Collins, and Joey Gusler. Bertie was blessed with nine great grandchildren Lydia, Michael, Mickala, Madison, Lily, Carson, Hanah, Madelyn and Cayden. She also leaves behind her loving sisters June Cox and husband Johnny and Mary Jane Martin and husband Bobby.

Bertie looked forward to all the family picnics, talking with her sisters, sharing memories of her lifetime and the weekends that Lydia and Mikey spent with her. The family would like to thank Dr. Badillo and staff for their many years of care and the staff in the Medical Care Unit at Carilion NRV Medical Center.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 16, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Horne Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenny Park officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
