Bessie Alliefair Ayers, 84, of Christiansburg, VA, was surrounded by her family and friends as she passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
She was the wife of the late Cabel Ayers. They shared 55 years of marriage together. Born on January 31, 1934 in Mercer County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Mason and Louise Hill. She was employed by MaidenForm, where she was a supervisor, for 44 years. After retiring, she entered into childcare where she served as a nursery worker in a daycare in Pearisburg, VA. She worked there for 14 years.
Allie attended Trinity Community Church. She enjoyed serving others and spending time with family and friends. Allie will be remembered for her kind and sweet spirit.
She is survived by her son, Donald Ayers and wife Debbie of Princeton, WV; daughter, Melissa Cook and husband Scott of Christiansburg, VA; sister, Lexie Comer of Oakvale, WV; brothers, Burton Hill and wife Phyllis of Gastonia, NC, and Jimmy Hill and wife Daphne of Athens, WV. She had three grandchildren, Cassandra Coleman, Bailee Cook, and Joshua Gibson and wife Juanita; five great-grandchildren, Eliana and Carolyn Coleman, Austin Ayers, and Xander and Xavier Gibson; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Skeens; brother, Arvin Hill; and a grandson, Timmy Ayers.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 29, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel, with Pastor Brian Cockram officiating. The family will have private interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV.
The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice for their care and support, especially Chaplain Robyn and Nurse Sydney, also Dr. Mary Carter for her compassion in treating our mom.
