Betty Jane Patton Crigger, of Pearisburg, passed away on January 14, 2015. She was born on November 30, 1938 in Wythe County, VA, and was a resident of White Marsh, MD until moving to Pearisburg some 45 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Crigger; parents, Lou Ella and Hobert Patton; as well as six brothers; and five sisters.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Bonnie and Ed Shrader and grandson, Christopher of Monrovia, MD; son, Mitchell D. Crigger and friend April Hopkins of Pearisburg, VA; granddaughter, Megan Knoche and fiancé, David Hoffman; great-granddaughters, Aria and Aspen; son, Michael G. Crigger and fiancé, Pepper Fields of Pearisburg, VA; grandson, Carson Crigger; sisters, Reba Patton Warner of Narrows, VA, Ella Wood and husband, Robert of Burnsville, NC; brother, Daniel B. Patton (Bud) of White Marsh, MD; nieces and nephew who shared closely in her care, Jane Campbell of Pulaski, VA, Lydia and Daniel Patton of Baltimore, MD, Jennifer Patton of Baltimore, MD, Sarah and Ron Reid of Falston, MD, and many other devoted nieces and nephews who she loved with all her heart and nurtured from birth; as well as former daughters-in-law and their families who love Betty as a mother, Becky Knoche and her husband Kevin, their children, Hannah and Gabe, and Mary Katherine Buracker and her husband, Chucky and their children, Kirstyn and Caelyn.
Betty was well known for her active membership as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses from a young age. She actively confirmed her faith and confidence in the Bible’s message and the promises of her God, Jehovah, including that of the resurrection to Paradise on earth. Her family looks forward to seeing her there. She was also well known as a caring Giles County school bus driver for more than 30 years. She loved all her children.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Narrows Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Virginia Avenue, Narrows, VA, on January 17, 2015, at 2 p.m.
