Betty Jo Nicewander Ogle, 80 of Christiansburg made her trip to heaven surrounded by her family on November 5, 2017. Betty was the daughter of the late Harry and Hilda Nicewander. She joins the love of her life and husband of 55 years, Estel Ogle. Also in heaven to welcome her is her precious daughter, Karen Ogle. Betty was also preceded in death by her brother, William (Evelyn) Nicewander.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, John (Patt) Ogle, Becky (George) Brammer, and Joe (Betsy) Ogle. Betty is also survived by her sister, Bonnie (Roger) Mitchell. Betty had a deep love and devotion for all of her family and her memory will be treasured by her grandchildren, Brian (Faith) Ogle, Curtis Ogle, Matt (Suzanne) Brammer, Amanda (JT) Barnes, and Ben Ogle. Her legacy will live on in her first great-granddaughter, Abigail June Ogle who was born on the same day as her passing. Her love and hospitality extended to all who visited her home including her many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law who enjoyed her wonderful home cooking and company.
Betty was happy to live her dream of having a home, husband, and family. She gave of herself tirelessly caring for the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of her husband and children. She was quick to listen and had a heart of gentleness and compassion. Betty faithfully demonstrated unconditional love and forgiveness. Her love of children was expressed through years of teaching Sunday school and working in the church nursery. Betty was a kind, generous, and loving person that touched the lives of everyone she knew. In addition to her role as a wife and mother, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, caring for animals, and fellowship with friends. She had an amazing ability to provide comfort and support that could only be from the Lord.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of The Joseph Thomas Center, South Roanoke Nursing Home and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
The visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, with Funeral Service on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. Both services will be at Horne Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
