Betty Jessee Stevens, 88, of Christiansburg, passed away in her home on Friday, December 7, 2012.
Mrs. Stevens was born on July 9, 1924, in Radford to the late Pastor Ellis Claire Jessee and Lottie Roberts Jessee. She was the granddaughter of the late Arthur and Lucy Roberts, also of Radford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Cloyd Stevens; a brother, Arthur Claire Jessee; and numerous beloved in-laws.
A graduate of Radford College, she went on to serve as Registrar for the College from 1960 until 1972. She later served as office manager for MetLife in Orlando, FL until her retirement.
Mrs. Stevens is survived by her daughters, Sandra Johnson (Jack) of Christiansburg, Elizabeth Pearson (James) of Greensboro, NC, and Jean Daigre (Benny) of Radford. She is also survived by a sister, Jeanne Plummer of Winston-Salem, NC. Her life was enriched by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Carilion Hospice and Traci’s Caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Carilion Hospice Services New River Valley, 707 Randolph Street, Suite 251, Radford, VA 24141.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 3 pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Andrew Taylor-Troutman officiating.
