Betty Stewart

Stewart, Betty Jean Dean, 78, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009. She was born on June 13, 1931 to the late Walter C. and Beulah M. Dean. She was also preceded in death by siblings: Marlon Dean, Delma Dean, Bobby Dean, Walter “Dub” Dean, Wilda Pennington, and Everett Dean.
She is survived by; her husband of 60 years, Arthur “Jack” Stewart; son, Jerry Wayne Stewart; daughter, Judy S. Atkinson and husband John T. Atkinson, grandchildren, Jacqueline Y. Newsome, Gwendolyn S. Lala, Jerri Lynn Warburton, Kimberly M. Span, and Whitney Marie Span, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brother, Bennie Dean and wife Gina, and sister, Edith Semones.
Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who touched many lives in the time she spent with us. She was very proud to be an ordained minister and performed many wedding ceremonies over the years. She was an inspiration to all, and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Rev. Jube Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, VA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home.
