Betty Zane Hodges Gillespie

March 28, 1927 — February 19, 2019

Betty Zane Hodges Gillespie, of Christiansburg, left this Earth for her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem. She was born on March 28, 1927 in West Virginia. She graduated Valedictorian of her class at McComas High School. She was a member of Belview United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gillespie; daughter, Sandra Johnson; and granddaughters, Sarah Colley and Phaydra Epperly.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Donna (Alvie) Cullop of Roanoke, Debbie (Roger) Carroll of Christiansburg, Sue (Walter) Baumoel of Roanoke, and Cecile (Brian) Beverage of Troutville; nine grandchildren, Brian and Zac Cullop, Christy (Tom) Wallace, Stacey Crowder, Travis (Rose) Colley, Aaron, Lindsey and Abby Baumoel, Austin Beverage; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mitzi East; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Gillespie, Freda (Travis) Quesenberry; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, February 22, 2019, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Pastor Bud Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
