CLAFLIN, BEULAH S. THOMPSON, of Christiansburg, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Wheatland Hills, Radford, VA.
She was a retired employee of C & P Telephone. Born in the Huffville community of Floyd County the daughter of the late John Harvey and Minnie Wimmer Spangler. She was also preceded by her husbands, Ernest Thompson and Howard Claflin; her brother, Lee Roy Spangler and brothers-in-law, William Mills, R.C. “Bob” Jamison.
Surviving are her sisters, Virginia S. Mills, Roanoke, Mary S. Jamison, Boones Mill; Sister-in-law, Marguerite Spangler; her nieces, Sandra E. Mills, Norma E. Cox, both of Christiansburg; nephews, Dennis M. Mills, Roanoke, Earl Thompson, Dublin; step-children, Kathy and Frank Holland, Richmond, VA, Howard and Linda Claflin, Chicago, IL; step grandchildren, Martha and Steve Stanley, Andrew and Tiffany Holland, all of Richmond, VA.
The family wishes to express thanks to the Wheatland Hills Nursing Staff, Radford, VA, Carilion New River Valley Hospice, and special thanks to Becky Blankenship and Becky Cromer.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2pm Tuesday, June 2 at the Horne Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jun 2nd from the Horne Funeral Chapel by Rev. Dr. David A Goodpasture with interment in Sunset Cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial be made to the Montgomery County Humane Society.
