Beverly Lee Hunter, 90, of Christiansburg, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, with his family by his side. Beverly was born on March 26, 1927, to the late Murry and Erma Hunter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Melvin ‘Socks’ Hunter.
Beverly is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edith; son, Dennis; sister, Bonnie Church (Charles); sisters-in-law, Betty Hunter, Ila Agee, Alma Mannon, Alta Conner, and Cora Thompson (Gratton); and his furry companion, Kaylar.
Beverly joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served during the latter years of WWII. After leaving the Navy he went to work in the bakery at Virginia Tech for four years. He then went to school and worked the next 35 years as an aircraft engine mechanic at the Virginia Tech airport.
During his life he enjoyed trout fishing, hunting with his brother and nephews, playing his guitar and shooting archery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Wade and Rev. Craig Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
