Bill A. Rice

Bill A. Rice, 82, of Christiansburg, VA, was born on February 4, 1941, the youngest of nine children. He passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2023, from complications related to cancer.
Bill was a local builder who enjoyed his craft. He built and remodeled many homes in the area and was well respected by many. He will be missed by his family and friends; however, we rejoice that he is now with the Lord in the home that Jesus has promised to prepare for those who put their faith in Him.
Bill taught his children the value of honest, hard work, and he was generous and kind to everyone. He loved to study the Bible, and he enjoyed the simple blessings of God’s good gifts such as a red, ripe tomato right off the vine.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, John Harrison Rice; his mother, Mabel Gibson Rice; and his wife, Ruby Spencer Rice. His is survived by three children, Renae Rice Criner (Roger) of Christiansburg, Bryan A. Rice (Benita) of Christiansburg, Timothy S. Rice (Irene), of Dunn, NC; three step-children, Dreama Hilton, Lesa Delosrios, and Tim Lawson; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Rice Watson of Roanoke.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 22, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg and officiated by Rev. Craig Reed. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service at 11:00 with a graveside service at Sunset Cemetery afterward.
