Bobbie Rucker Gross (MomMom), 83, of Christiansburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Andrew and Mary Kathleen Rucker; and son, Benjamin Andrew Gross. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Sanford Gross; daughters, Kathy Harmon, Robin Gross Trump (Rick), Traci Gross Dishon (Merle), and Natalie Anne Gross-Hall (Tim); grandchildren, Kelly, Chris, Rikki, Jessie, Seth, Neil, Jeff, J.J., Charlotte, and Gracie; great-grandchildren, Colt, Charlie Anne, and a great-grandson on the way; as well as other extended family and friends.
Bobbie and Sandy shared 61 years together, an accomplishment rarely seen today. Both loved each other deeply and were truly committed to the vows they exchanged all those years ago. It was an every morning occurrence, Sandy bringing Bobbie breakfast in bed but Bobbie pampered Sandy just as much in return. They shared a love and a life that few ever get to experience.
Bobbie loved her family and many friends, but one of her other loves was bowling at the NRV SuperBowl, where she had a second family who loved her and will miss her dearly.
The family would like to say a special “thank you” to Dr. Robert Solomon and to Dr. Jesse Davidson who have cared for Bobbie for years, and to all the staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, especially to Dr. Robert Keeley and to a very special nurse Nicole, who went above and beyond the call of duty in taking care of Bobbie. We are forever grateful for all that you did.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rabbi Cohen officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park, Radford.
