Hawley, Bobby John, 72, of Christiansburg, died Nov. 28, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Hawley , a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, started work at Lynchburg Foundry in Radford at age 17. He spent two years in the Army with 18 months in Germany as a Tank Mechanic before returning to work at the Foundry. Mr. Hawley then worked at National Linen Service in Roanoke as a route salesman and later a salesman. The last 27 years Mr. Hawley has been the owner and operator of Country Kitchen Restaurant in Christiansburg.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ray and Ola Hawley, and his sister, Annie Bell Rasnake. Mr. Hawley is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Hawley; daughter, Sharon Hagy; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby J. Hawley, Jr. and Ginger Bell; granddaughter, Brandy Hawley; grandsons, Benny Hagy and wife, Sonya, Bobby J. Hawley III (Tra) and wife, Mandi, Danny Hagy; five great grandchildren, Dylan Hagy, Alexis Hagy, Tyler Hagy, Dakota and Shelby Hawley, all of Christiansburg. Also surviving are his sister and caregiver, Pauline Hawley, of Richmond; brothers, Bill Hawley and wife, Doris, of Lynchburg, Buddy Hawley and wife, Clarice, of Radford, and Nelson Hawley and wife Bonnie, of Christiansburg; special nieces, Donna Rasnake, Sandy Burns, and Debbie Jennelle, and many other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 ? 8 pm Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Monte Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg, VA.
