Brenda Joy Frith Musselman

Brenda Joy Frith Musselman, 77, passed quietly and peacefully to be with the Lord on February 2, 2024. She was residing at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Big Stone Gap, VA. Brenda was born on January 10,1947 in Martinsville, VA. She was the oldest child of Irvine Ford Frith and Gladys Estelle Wray Frith.

She grew up on a small farm in Henry County. She was very quiet and studious. She graduated from J.D. Bassett High School in 1965. She was voted most shy female student in her senior class. She attended Patrick Henry College for one semester.

She met her husband in Martinsville, VA. She was married and moved away from Martinsville in 1967. She lived in Christiansburg and the surrounding area for the majority of her adult life. She worked at Shoney’s, Golden Corral and Hardees until she retired.

She is predeceased in death by her parents: Irvine Ford Frith and Gladys Estelle Wray Frith. She was predeceased by her daughter Michelle Lea Musselman. She was also predeceased by her daughter in law Denise M. Musselman.

She is survived by two children: Janet M. Bowman (Chuck) of Golconda, Illinois and William Thomas Musselman (Regina) of Christiansburg, VA. She is survived by five grandchildren: Pierce Bowman and Gwendolyn Bowman of Golconda, Illinois. Devon Musselman and Brady Musselman of Christiansburg, VA. and Kenzie Danielle of Radford, VA.

She is also survived by four siblings: Thomas I. Frith of Martinsville, VA. Deborah F. Frith (Allen) of Glade Hill, VA. Shelby F. Evans (Bill) of Ruffin, N.C. and Cathy E. Ashmun (Richard) of Roanoke, Va.

She attended Open Door Baptist Church in Christiansburg, VA. She has resided at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Big Stone Gap, VA. since 2018.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday February 7, 2024, at Horne Funeral Home, 1300 North Franklin Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073. Family Visitation will be held at Horne Funeral Home on February 7, 2024 from 12 noon until 2PM. The Funeral will be held at 2 PM February 7, 2024 at Horne Funeral Home following the visitation. The Interment at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, VA. will follow the funeral service.
