PHILLIPS, CARL J., age 73, of Christiansburg passed away Monday, October 15, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Ruth Phillips, and a brother, James Phillips and his wife, Dorothy M. Phillips.
He was a veteran having served in the Air Force, retired from Corning Glass Works, and a beloved member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Patrick & Christine Phillips; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia & Mark Salmon; Granddogs, Lea & Nina; many nieces and nephews; close friends, Alan Taylor & Charlie Taylor. Special thanks to Stan Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17 at the Horne Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 834 Ellett Road, Christiansburg with Rev. Stan Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Diane Matthews, 600 Gold Leaf Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073 or the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
