Carl Wirt

WIRT, CARL M., age 50, of Christiansburg, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 12th, 2005.

Carl was a dedicated employee of Verizon Communications for 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and golfing. He was a former member of the Christiansburg Rescue Squad.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clayborne Wirt and his daughter, Lesley Elaine Wirt. Survivors include his wife, Becky Graham Wirt of Christiansburg; son, Josh Wirt of Christiansburg; mother, Louise Hall Wirt of Christiansburg; sister and brother-in-law, Barboura W. & Janard Allsman of Sisters, OR; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norma & Jack Graham of Christiansburg; brothers-in-law, Joel Graham, Tracy Graham and spouse, Melissa all of Christiansburg; sister-in-law and spouse; Elaine G. & Bill Campbell of Vinton; and several nieces, nephews and countless friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15th at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, January 16th at the Cambria Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas G. Harvey and Mr. Jon Couch officiating. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 176; Christiansburg, VA 24068.
