Hines, Carolyn Altizer, 74, of Snowville, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Archie M. Altizer and Nobie Phillips Altizer; and step-daughter, Sheryl Hines Duncan; step-daughter-in-law, Carolyn Newman Hines. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband and caregiver, Gray Hines; son, Thomas Weeks (David Whitaker); daughter, Amy Hines Horne (Brian), and their daughters, Rachel Altizer (Daniel), Grayce Bishop (Preston), Quinn Horne, and Makenna Horne; daughter, Jennifer Hines Duncan (Brian), and their children, Malorie Bower, Levi Bower, Mason Hines, Drake Duncan; great-grandchild, Remington; brother, Douglas Altizer (Jeannie); step-children, Donnie Hines, Jay Hines (Gail), Kent Hines, Mark Hines (Cathy); son-in-law, Harold Duncan; step-grandchildren, Brad, Will, Amanda, Terri, Tony, Trish, Amber, Sarah, Eric; aunt, Edna; nieces and nephews, Laura, Mindi, Cara, Woody, Chase; special friends, Linda, Glenna, and Roy; as well as numerous step-great-grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
Carolyn was compassionate and a gifted artist, gardener, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family, friends, flowers, and home. She worked at First and Merchants Bank in Radford and in the last several years at Davidson’s Pharmacy in Christiansburg, where she acquired her second family whom she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, from 12-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. Mark Miller of Bethel United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Radford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
