Charles Alvah Davis

Charles Alvah Davis, 75, of Shawsville, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry and Opal Davis; brother, Edward Davis; and son, Richard A. Davis.

Charlie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia ‘Pat’ Davis; son, Charles Davis, Jr. and wife Teresa; daughters, Lori Leonard and husband Robert Leonard, Jr. and Sonja Thornsberry and husband Clenard; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Edward Davis, Kathy Young and husband Jim, and Linda Pollins and husband Kevin.

Charlie was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 ½ years of service. He was a charter member of the Shawsville Volunteer Rescue Squad as well as a member of the NRV Local Rural Letter Carrier Association #23 and the Crockett Springs United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Crockett Springs United Methodist Church, with Rev. Milton Marks, Rev. Emory Tarpley and Rev. Jim Angle officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville.
