JEWELL, CHARLES WILLIAM, age 78, of Christiansburg died Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at his home.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the U. S. Navy. He was retired from Hennis/Spector Trucking Company as a truck driver. After retiring, he worked part time with Marshall Concrete Company until his complete retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents William Holt and Iva R. Jewell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Mary M. Jewell; his children and their spouses, Charles W., Jr. (Bill) & Olga Jewell of Woodlawn; Janet J. Epperly; Peggy L. Jewell both of Christiansburg; Mary V. & George Stewart of Fairlawn; grandchildren, George Stewart, Jr., Peggy Costigan, Angelia Jewell, Charles W. Jewell, III; Amanda Jewell, great grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Stewart, Michael and William Pierce, very special friend, Robert (Bobby) V. Sifford.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. There will be a private graveside funeral with Rev. Jeremy Hendricks officiating. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Allen Tauro, Dr. Sudhender Chobey and Dr. Robert Rotche and their staff, and the caring nurses of the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Special thanks to the Carilion New River Valley Hospice for their support. We have a special place in our hearts for Connie and Lisa.
