Clifford Hughes

HUGHES, Clifford Sherwood, 80 of Christiansburg passed away peacefully Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery.
Clifford was a longtime member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a Veteran of the United States Navy, and had retired as a Construction Electrician.
The son to the late Spencer Kelly and Virginia Massey Hughes he was also preceded in death by his infant son, and his brother; Densel Kelly Hughes.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years; Lola Jean Hughes, daughter and son-in-law; Sherry and Wayne Haley, son and daughter-in-law; Cliff and Mary Hughes all of Christiansburg. Also surviving are his granddaughters and their husbands; Mary Ashley and Steve Strand of Lawrence, KS, and Liann and Jimmy Fuller of Radford, VA. Mr. Hughes is also survived by one great granddaughter; Aubrie Haley Fuller, and one sister; Alice Lilly of Royal Palm Beach, FL.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 with Pastor Sebert Rorrer officiating. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the caring staff of Lewis Gale Hospital - Montgomery for the care provided.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program 110 Roanoke Street SE, Christiansburg, Virginia 24073.
