Clinton Altizer

June 20, 1917 — March 7, 2005

ALTIZER, CLINTON EDWARD, 87, of Christiansburg died Monday, March 7, 2005 at his home. He was born in Floyd County to the late Fugate Clark and Lula Light Altizer.

He was a member and Deacon of the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren and retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 20 years of service as an electrician.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Lois A. Beeken, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Helen G. Altizer, two daughters, Judy Nichols, Rita Philpott and son-in-law Richard Philpott; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Sadie Guthrie and brother, Edgar Altizer.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, March 9 at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10 at the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren with Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Carilion Hospice, 707 Randolph Street; Radford, VA 24141 whose compassionate service was greatly appreciated. The Altizer Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, (382-2612).
