Danny Boyd Ramey Jr.

Danny Boyd Ramey Jr., 38 of Christiansburg, VA, lost his battle with colon cancer surrounded by his family and friends on September 10, 2017.

Danny is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mandi; daughter, Ashlee; son, Robert (Katie) Ramey; granddaughter, Olivia Mari; step-daughter, Erin Carroll; mother, Debbie White; brother, Kristopher Ramey; nephews, Kaysen and Hayden Ramey; sister, Virginia (John) Hunt; niece, Rachel; nephews, JT3 and Evan; grandmother, Shirley Ramey, all of Christiansburg; a very special aunt/mom Dawn White; uncle/father, Norman (Tammy) White; the best grandparents, Norman and Joyce White, all of Spotsylvania, VA; aunt, Debbie (Ronnie) Lytton of Radford, VA; uncle, Daniel “JR” (Lorna) Ramey of Maryland; many cousins and siblings/cousins; as well as a very special adopted family, Chris and Nikki Patsel and children. He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Boyd Ramey Sr. Danny was a loving father, husband, Pawpaw, son, and friend to all.

Danny loved first and foremost his family. He worked locally as a subcontractor installing flooring in all of the NRV for 20+ years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He enjoyed Redskins football regardless of their performance, restoring old cars, and fishing. Danny was always there to help friends and family with projects or whatever else they needed.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care for their loving care and support, the incredibly compassionate Palliative Care doctors and nurses as well as several other doctors and nurses from 10 West ICU and 8 West PCU at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Also thank you to Horne Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Danny will be laid to rest beside his father at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg following the Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, Danny wanted to be sure everyone rallied around his wife and kids. He was the breadwinner for the family. During his battle with cancer, expenses were incurred. Donations can be sent to Mandi Ramey at 4916 Prices Fork Road, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
