Daphne left her earthly home on Friday March 7, 2025 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was the daughter of Walter H Hickman and Margaret Miller Hickman (predeceased). She was the eldest granddaughter of Joseph L Miller and Pearl S Miller (maternal) and Theodosha Hickman (paternal). Also predeceased by her brother Joseph Hickman.

Daphne was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church. Attended Christiansburg Institute and had a great love for the C.I. reunions. She was known for her love of people and her listening ear. Daphne enjoyed having her kids, grandkids and their friends around. Always ready for family dinner or a cookout; her grands always enjoyed going to Grandmother's as she was called. Everyone of them has a story to tell.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sisters Josette H Claytor and Victoria H Snell.

Six children P Tannese Payne (Roanoke VA); Rochelle Y Payne (Hampton VA); James P Payne Jr (New River VA); D Jolene Payne (Christiansburg VA); Juan V Payne Sr (Raleigh NC); and Jammon D Payne (Dublin VA)
Special son in law Lawrence Mcclellan Jr (Hampton VA)

Twelve grandchildren; Jammon, Damion, Donavon, Donnesia, Jewell, Nikita, Devin, Mark, Juan Jr, Brandon, Jasmine and Jamail
Twenty great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

The family would like thank Danyel Basham who was a special friend and caregiver

And baby sister Jolene; Thank you so much from your siblings! The continuance of great care and love that you extended to our mother for the past four years all the way to the end is greatly appreciated!
