DICKSON, DARE WOODROW, age 84, of Christiansburg, VA passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the VA Medical Center, Salem.

A retired employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, he was a veteran of WWII having served in the Merchant Marines, and was a life member of VFW Post 5311. He was a member of Belmont Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Dickson; children, Dale Patrick Dickson, Ft. Payne, AL, Peggy Sue Heslep, Elliston, VA, Kathy D. Dowdy, Rockville, MD and Douglas Warren Dickson, Marysville, TN; sisters, Bobbie Frazier, Greensboro, NC, Ola Mae Blair, Jeffreson, NC; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Belmont Christian Church Vision Fund, 2149 Dominion Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073.

The body will be placed in the Belmont Christian Church, Monday afternoon where friends may call after 3 p.m., the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Monday evening at the church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Belmont Christian Church with Rev. Jim Bayne, Rev. Jerry Dowdy and Rev. Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in the Belmont Cemetery with military graveside rited conducted by VFW Post 1184, Pulaski, VA.The Dickson family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, VA.
