Darlene Barker Francisco

Darlene Barker Francisco left this life to begin her new life with Christ on Thursday, December 28, 2023.
Darlene was born on July 13, 1938, in Indian Valley, Virginia, to the late Walter Martin Lyons and
Magalene Hollandsworth Lyons. She retired from the State of Virginia, where she worked at Catawba
Hospital in the Dietary Department. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, taking care of her birds,
and was known for making the best banana pudding and chocolate pies ever! She worked very hard to
take care of her husband who had medical issues to enable him to stay in the home as opposed to a
nursing facility. She exemplified “until death do us part” and would not have had it any other way. She
loved her family dearly and especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Carlton E. Barker; Son, Ronald J. Barker; Daughter-in-law,
Joan J. Barker; Granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Barker; Step-daughter, Debbie Francisco; Step-
grandchild, Dennis Francisco; Step-Great Grandson, Noah Herbert; Brother, James Edison “Buck” Lyons,
Sr., and several loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her current husband, David L. Francisco, Sr.
Children: Linda (Tim) Wilson, Jerry (Freda) Barker, Darryl Barker, Steve (Susan) Barker, and Kenneth
Francisco. Step-children: Glenn (Patty) Francisco, Tim (Gail) Francisco, Cathy Hall, David Francisco, Jr.,
Pam Lloyd, Amy (Mitch) Hale.
Grandchildren: Richard (Maggie) Grubb, Angie (Chris) Vaughn, Matthew Barker (Amber Waltz), LeeAnn
Barker (Winston Lewis), Travis Barker, Brian Snider, Casey (Jacob) Davis, and Jacob Barker.
Step-Grandchildren: Katherine Denton, Natalie Denton, Miranda Denton, Heath (Fallon) Wilson, Natalie
Wilson, Katrina (Chris) Callicutt, Jason Hall, Ricky “JR” Lloyd (Erica), Christy (Tracy) Murphy, Jessie
(Shelby) Lloyd, Timmy (Maria) Hall, Josh Francisco (Erica), Ashley Maynard, Stephanie (Matt) McKenzie, Melina (Patrick) Boreck, Savanah (Andy) Clark, and Chloe Francisco.

Maynard, Alanna McNeil, Bradon McNeil, Kinzley Duncan, Emberly McKenzie, Josh David Francisco, Emma Francisco, Penelope Boreck, Brittney Gladden, Tylor Callicutt, Tucker Callicutt, Teagan Callicutt,
Bridget Callicutt, Desta Murphy, Jonatan Murphy, Taylor Lloyd, Brook Lloyd, Page Lloyd; Caroline Lloyd,
and Nathan Lloyd.
Step Great-Great Grandchildren: Kenneth Alston, Dorian Gladden, Bryson Callicutt, and Jace Marshall.
Siblings: Ted Drexel Lyons, Lassie Wiladean Lindsey, Gerald (Cheryl) Lyons, Regina Lyons Talbert, and
many special nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation and funeral service on Tuesday, January 02, 2023, at Horne
Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., in
the funeral home chapel, and will be officiated by the Reverend Lynwood Michael “Mikie” Talbert, Jr.
Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Her grandsons, Richard Grubb, Matthew Barker, Travis
Barker, Jacob Barker, Brian Snider, and Chris Vaughan will serve as pall bearers.
