Dr. David Warren Griffiths a long-time resident of Blacksburg, Virginia died unexpectedly November 15th, 2022. He was a father, grandfather, friend, animal lover, outdoorsman, dapper dresser and American Chemist. Reserved and introspective by nature he will be remembered as a nice guy with a keen intelligence, dry wit, sports enthusiast, promoter of social justice and lover of the arts. Dr. Griffiths would want you to know that he has led a full and enjoyable life and would like to be remembered as a risk taker, dare devil and survivor. He would also want to share with you that his greatest accomplishments in life are his children.
Dave grew up in Wilmington, OH and graduated from Wilmington High School, Wilmington College and received his PH.D. in Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He had a life-long career in the field of Environmental Services; in many capacities that took him to many places locally, nationally and internationally.
He was predeceased by his parents Carl Warren and Louise Emma (Benckenstein) Griffiths and his brother Daniel Griffiths.
He is survived by his daughter Sarah Becker and husband David of Pfafftown, NC, son Ben Griffiths and wife Jaime of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren Felecia and Nathaniel Becker and Gray, Jackson, Bella, Emerson and Liam Griffiths-Hill and Eileen Griffiths, Mother of his children. He is also survived by Alice Coughlin friend and life companion and the Coughlin Family
A memorial reception will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, 12N-2pm with a celebration of his life beginning at 1pm at The Farmhouse Restaurant, 285 Ridinger Street, Christiansburg, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Quaker American Friends Service Committee at :
