David Clayton Myers, born on August 18, 1943 in Christiansburg, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Augusta, GA. He was the son of the late James and Mary Myers of Riner VA. Fred and Ruby Altizer were David's surrogate parents after his mother and father died. He was preceded in death by beloved daughter, Valerie Hall. David truly loved his family and his numerous cousins.
Survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Mariel H. Myers, Augusta GA; daughter, Hope Myers Quesenberry (husband Robert Quesenberry) of Richmond VA and Cindy Ogden (husband Robbie Ogden) of New Ellenton, SC; grandchildren, Brienne McDaniel, Jared McDaniel (wife Li), Ariel Ayers (husband Brandon) and Charity Quesenberry; great-grandchildren, Lillian Quesenberry, Corey Ayers and Elijah McDaniel.
The Myers family lived in Riner, Virginia, for more than 100 years. David retired as an award-winning dairy farmer, farming for 27 years after the death of his father.
David faithfully supported Mariel’s ministry at Higher Ground Christian Retreat Center and in the Methodist church. He was also Ordained in the Ministry of Helps with Healing in His Wings Ministry.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 5-7:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va.
