Debra Ruth Hollins, 60, of Salem, went to be with the Lord and join her parents in Heaven on Friday, August 5, 2011.
She was born March 17, 1951 in Detroit, Mich. to the late Aubrey and Ruth Eve Powell.
She loved to read and she was a nursing home CNA where she loved all of her residents. She was always taking care of somebody and was always there when you needed her. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own, making a lasting impact on their lives.
She is survived by her husband, Harley "Butch" Hollins; children, Arthur Joe Hollins and Ruth Withrow and husband Billy Withrow, Jr.; grandchildren, Justin Hollins, Amanda New Kennedy Withrow, and Damion Withrow; brother, Jerry Powell; closest friend, Debbie "Cookie" Cook; former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Atkinson; and many other family and friends too numerous to mention, but as equally loved and cherished.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to English Meadows, 1140 West Main Street, Christiansburg, VA.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ruth Ann Allaire officiating.
