Dennis Dingus

Dennis Lee Dingus, 61, of Riner, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 17. He was predeceased by her parents Earl Dingus (1999), and Mary Dingus (2013). He was a 1969 graduate of Auburn High School, Riner. He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Christiansburg. He was known to many as “Dink” and he and her wife, Kathy, were the owners of D&K Market in Christiansburg from 1987-1994.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathy Dingus; daughter & son-in-law, Tammy & Gary Brown (Riner); son, Michael Dingus (Blacksburg); very special granddaughter, Leah Sumner (Riner); sister, Patricia Thomas (Florida); sisters & brothers-in-law, Sheila & Walter Gallimore, (Radford); Earlene & Eddie Akers (Riner); Johnnie & Robert Lytton (Christiansburg); brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Chuck & Vanessa Smith (Radford) and Gary & Lynette Smith (Elliston). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Vest officiating; burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the physicians and nurses at Carilion New River Medical Center, Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Duke Medical Center for their care; also special thanks to Dr. A. U. Wyne (Radford) and Dr. Matt Skewes (Dublin) for their special care of Dennis throughout the years.
