Dixie Davis Galyean, 84, of Christiansburg passed away April 22, 2020 at his home. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and Army & retired from Virginia Tech after 32yrs as Chief Photographer in the media department.
He was a member of Cambria Baptist Church for 41 years where he had served as deacon & sang bass in the choir with his daughter & granddaughter.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Sumner Gaylean; parents, Akers & Emma Galyean; and sisters, Phyllis Leonard and Pamela Martin. He is survived by his son, Stuart Akers Galyean & wife, Kristin; daughter, Rebecca Galyean Yopp & husband, Robert; grandchildren, Jacklyn Greene, Zack Yopp, Brandon Yopp, Violet Yopp, Melissa Cohen, Aaron Cooledge, Jason Galyean, Stacey Galyean and Stuart Galyean; great grandchildren, Thea Cohen, Evalyn Cohen, Jack Cooledge, Chloe Cooledge & Ivy Cooledge, Merriam Cooledge, Clara Cooledge, Meranda Galyean and Akers Galyean; and many nieces and nephews. The family will have a private graveside service at Independence Cemetery in Fancy Gap.
