Our loving mother, sister, and wife, Dolores Leigh Akers Edmondson, 85, of Christiansburg, VA accepted the hand of Jesus March 2, 2022, after battling multiple health issues leading to hospice care since Christmas Eve 2021, peacefully in her home in Christiansburg, VA.
Dolores Leigh Akers Edmondson was born on September 18, 1936 in Williamson, WV to Corbin W. Akers and Mary Scott Akers of Williamson WV, both deceased.
After graduating from Blacksburg High School, Dolores married her high school sweetheart, James Preston Edmondson from Purcellville, VA, on June 4, 1955. Dolores is survived by her husband as well as five children: Preston Scott Edmondson of Morrisville, NC (Debbie), Lisa Kay Echols of Wichita, KS (Drew), Richard Drew Edmondson of Morehead City, NC (Patti), Teresa Ann Esteves of Christiansburg, VA (Noel), and Dennis Neil Edmondson of Christiansburg, VA, and 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Dolores’s life centered around being a devoted wife and mother. She was a passionate and faithful homemaker and stay-at-home mom.
Being a woman of faith, Dolores instilled in her children to learn to walk the life that Christ would have us to live. The military assignments of her husband to move the family multiple times throughout the United States, her faith was not hampered and remained strong. It was very evident in her walk and her talk, the love she had for the Lord. Her heart’s desire was to see her family and friends come to know Jesus.
Dolores is preceded in death by both of her parents and all but one sibling, Brenda Akers Hutzler (Charles) of Tioga, Louisiana.
Dolores loved to laugh and looked for the joy in every situation she was in. She lived a faithful life and read His word on a daily basis, a prayer warrior you could call on and know she would pray. Dolores attended Trinity Community Church in Christiansburg and participated in prayer chains, bible study, vacation bible school, nursery, as well as many other activities.
The family of Dolores Edmondson invites you to participate in the celebration of her life on Sunday, March 6, 2022, 3pm to 5pm for viewing at Trinity Community Church. 1505 N.
