Donald Lee Robertson, 82 of Elliston and Salem, VA, and a 55 year member of the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department went to the Fire House in the Sky on June 10, 2016. His service to the people of Elliston and Montgomery County will be missed. He retired from Norfolk Southern with 38 years of service. He also served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, was a member of Taylor Masonic Lodge # 23 in Salem, and a member of the Lafayette United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris Cundiff Robertson, and his parents, Everett L. and Mary M. Robertson of Salem.
A graduate of Andrew Lewis High School class of 1952, Don was active in planning class reunions. He was a longtime member of the National Hudson Antique Car Club and served as National Director for 3 years. He was also a member of the Roanoke Valley MOPAR Car Club. Don bought his first new car in 1956, a Dodge 2 door hardtop, which he still owned.
Don is survived by his two loving daughters, Laura Robertson of Alexandria, VA and Terri Fritz of Salem and a grandson Will Fritz of Salem. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Elliston Volunteeer Fire Department, 5001 Enterprise Dr. Elliston, VA 24087. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Lafayette United Methodist Church with a memorial
service to follow at 7:00 pm conducted by Pastor Elwood Carwile. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
