Donald Ray Sumler, 79 of Floyd, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Ethel Mae Honaker Sumler; his first wife, Lucille Marie Sumler; an infant son, Steven Sumler; sisters: Margaret Craft, Juanita Barker, Louise Montgomery, and Frances Ratcliff; and a brother, George Sumler.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Louise J. Sumler, sons, Richard (Loretta) Sumler and Bobby (Phyllis) Sumler); daughter, Teresa (Larry) Mills; step sons, Ronald D. Snyder and Terry Dale Snyder; 11 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 adopted grandchildren; brothers Lewis Sumler and Roger (Betty) Sumler; sisters, Mary Linkous and Dorothy Duncan; a special friend, Wayne Blaine; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Don was a member of Open Door Baptist Church and retired from the Town of Christiansburg after 27 years of service His passion was as a Gospel music DJ for over 33 years with stations WFNR, WKEX, and WGFC.
Memorial contributions can be made to Open Door Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Open Door Baptist Church with Pastors Mike Johnston, Phillip Johnston, Tim Blevins, and Leon Goad officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
