Donna Joyce Bowman Bates, 83, of Christiansburg, died in the early morning hours on October 15, 2008 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Robert V. Bates; her parents, Edith M. and Joseph S. Bowman; and her brother, Robert S. Bowman.
She is survived by her son, Mark R. Bates of Christiansburg and South Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, laura B. and Michael G. Demeter, of Johns Creek, Georgia; granddaughters Megan J. Demeter and Nicole M. Demeter, both of Johns Creek, Georgia; and many other family members and friends.

A very compassionate, gentle, caring and loving woman, she will be greatly missed by all those who were touched by her. A private family gathering will be held in her memory.
