Riner

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donna Elizabeth Hancock, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother.  Donna's journey on this earth began on April 19, 1949, and concluded on August 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and creativity that will forever be remembered.

Donna's passion for life was evident in her various hobbies and interests. She found immense joy in ballroom dancing, expressing her artistic side through pottery, tending to her beautiful garden, and exploring the world as an artist. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service to celebrate Donna's life will be held on August 17, 2024, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Virginia. The service will begin at 10:00 AM, providing an opportunity for family and friends to pay their respects and honor the remarkable person that Donna was.

Donna is survived by her devoted spouse, Gregory A. Diethorn, who stood by her side through all of life's triumphs and challenges. Her daughter, Dana E. Byrd, was a source of pride and joy in Donna's life, and her presence brought warmth and light to every room. Donna's grandchildren, Graham Byrd, Heath Byrd, and Rowan Byrd, held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the moments spent with them dearly.

In the loving memory of Donna Elizabeth Hancock, her family recalls the profound impact she had on their lives and the lives of those around her. She now joins her father, Robert Ramey Hancock, and her mother, Olga Korneluk Hancock, in eternal peace. Her daughter, Megan Elaine Swartz, who passed before her, welcomed her with open arms into the heavenly embrace.

Donna's legacy of love, creativity, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty she brought into the world and the love that will forever endure in the hearts of those she touched.

Special thanks to Heather Brooks,  MD and Good Samaritian Hospice.
