Donna Lois Martin King of Christiansburg, died January 8, 2018, at her home. Donna was born October 3, 1925, in Check, VA, the fifth child of 15, to the late Isaac Irvin Martin and Lola Elizabeth Angle Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Weldon ‘Junior’ King; four brothers; and five sisters.
Donna is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Wayne King and Pam; grandsons, Mickey King and wife Joni and Jon King and wife Mitzi; great-grandson, Ashton King; great-granddaughter, Peyton King, all of Christiansburg. Also surviving are sisters, Ocie Thompson, Lena McAlexander (Archie), Jane Ernestine Nichols; brothers, James Ernest Martin (Connie) and Vernon Martin (Sandra); two sisters-in-law, Evelyn King and Cigile Martin. Other survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her greatest joys were keeping her grandsons, watching them grow into manhood, and seeing them happily married. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren, family reunions, and the many celebrations with her family throughout the years. Donna was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg where she worshipped until her health prohibited her attending.
Visitation will be held at Horne Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 10-11 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. Paul Song officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
